Hong Kong Accommodation: Comfortable Lodging

As soon as I arrived at OZO Wesley, I was immediately taken by its beautiful and stylish entrance. However, it was when I stepped through those doors that I was truly amazed. The entrance of OZO Wesley Hong Kong is chic, bright, and spacious, undoubtedly one of the trendiest designs I’ve ever seen in a hotel. The wavy wooden lines adorning parts of the ceiling and walls, coupled with the vibrant red furnishings, instantly reassured me that I had made the right choice by selecting this hotel – and I hadn’t even seen my room yet.

I originally intended to stay in Wan Chai, a neighborhood in Hong Kong, as I wanted to explore more, and the location of OZO seemed ideal. The hotel is conveniently situated with a tram station and multiple bus stops right outside. Within a 5-minute walk, I could reach two subway stations, Admiralty Station, and Wan Chai Station.

I had also heard that their website promised “stylish urban accommodation for the busy global nomad.” Well, if that doesn’t describe the perfect hotel for this globe-trotting girl, I don’t know what does! Checking in at OZO Wesley Hong Kong was efficient and swift. Within five minutes of arrival, I was opening the door to my 18th-floor room, once again pleasantly surprised by the comfort and design. Similar to New York, Hong Kong is known for its compact hotel rooms, but OZO managed to make the most of every inch of space – there was even a small table by the bedside. The blue and gray city skyline artwork on the entire wall behind the bed added a playful and modern feel to the hotel.

Last but certainly not least, my favorite feature was the cozy reading nook by the bay window! I found myself looking forward to occasional heavy rain, as it meant I could make myself a cup of tea (each room is equipped with an electric kettle and tea) and then relax in my little corner, reading a magazine or jotting down some thoughts. This was one of those delightful details that I cherished the most about the hotel.

Although the rooms at OZO Wesley Hong Kong have windows, the reading nook is not the only focal point. The entire purpose of OZO is to provide a good night’s sleep. Everything in the guest room is designed to ensure guests have the best nighttime slumber and the ultimate “dream experience.” This includes an incredibly comfortable bed, thick curtains to block out the morning sun, double-glazed windows to keep out city noise, and even a sleep timer on the TV, where sheep would appear on the screen, jumping. Every night when I turned on the TV, I couldn’t help but smile, eagerly waiting for the friendly little sheep to lull me to sleep with their soothing leaps.

Indeed, my sleep at OZO Wesley was consistently undisturbed, and the bed was incredibly comfortable; I often found myself wanting to spend an entire day just lounging in it rather than going out to explore Hong Kong. However, after a night of great sleep, I was energized and couldn’t just lie around in bed.Another thing I appreciated about my room was when I opened the mini-bar fridge, it was empty!

This hotel truly understands that most guests are tired of buying overpriced mini-bar drinks and snacks when they can easily pick up what they want at a 7-Eleven. OZO gets it right by not forcing you to clear out the mini-bar to make space for your own snacks and drinks. Instead, they leave an empty fridge for you from the beginning, and you can return all the mini-bar items to their original places before checking out. Brilliant!

For those who prefer not to go out for snacks and drinks, the lobby has a 24-hour self-service area that offers cookies, potato chips, fresh fruits, and beverages. On my first day at OZO Wesley in Hong Kong, I went for a run on the Bowen Road Fitness Trail. With the help of Google Maps, I discovered that the trail was just a short distance uphill from the hotel. Once there, you can run for miles along the rocky path on top of the hill, surrounded by lush vegetation, and enjoy magnificent views of Hong Kong. This became one of my favorite running routes in Hong Kong. Additionally, the hotel is also a short distance from the Central and Western District Promenade, which runs along the waterfront all the way to the harbor, providing another scenic running route.

When I woke up to rain on the second day, I decided to check out the hotel’s gym and was excited to discover a rather spacious fitness center equipped with both cardio machines and weights. I’ve noticed that when a hotel claims to have a gym, it can be hit or miss – sometimes it’s okay, but often it’s small and overlooked. This one was definitely well-maintained and had modern equipment. After a morning workout at the OZO Wesley gym in Hong Kong, one thing you might need is to refuel with a cup of strong coffee. OZO gets this right by not just offering a simple coffee pot in the breakfast area like many hotels but by providing two coffee machines that can brew your choice of coffee, whether it’s a straightforward espresso, Americano, cappuccino, or latte.

The other parts of breakfast were more than sufficient for me: fresh bread, cheese and cold cuts, jams and peanut butter, yogurt, a selection of juices, and salads. The only thing I wished for more variety in was fresh fruit, especially considering the hotel’s emphasis on providing a healthy breakfast.

I found the hotel’s location to be excellent, making it convenient to explore Central, Wan Chai, and Sheung Wan, with quick access to Kowloon via the subway. As I mentioned earlier, I never felt too down on rainy days because I was looking for excuses to spend more time in my room – and this was a situation that rarely occurred!
